In this video I’m chatting about Yuval Noah Harari’s Homo Deus, the first non-fiction book I have discussed on my channel. Having read Sapiens a couple of years back, I had high hopes for this sequel and it did not disappoint! The author explores the steps we have taken as a species to get where we are today, and where humanity could be in the coming decades and centuries if we continue to progress at the rate we are. Please let me know if you’ve read this book and what you thought of it – there’s so much to discuss surrounding this book so I’d love to hear your opinion! As always, if you have any suggestions for future videos, and if you enjoyed this video please subscribe to my channel for more! 📚 Instagram: @livslibraryreviews Facebook: Liv’s Library Blog: livslibrary.blogspot.com Goodreads: Olivia Rae Marshall
Hi fellow readers and fountain pen + ink enthusiasts! This video is my book review of the biography on Sigrid Undset – famous Norwegian author and Nobel Prize winner. The book is: Inside the Gate ~ Sigrid Undset’s Life at Bjerkebaek by Nan Bentzen Skille and translated by Tiina Nunnally. https://www.barnesandnoble.com/s/Inside%20the%20Gate%20by%20Nan%20Bentzen%20Skille In my opinion, this is one of the best biographies I’ve ever read and it is rich in detail including tons of photos, excerpts from letters, receipts and documents – it satisfies even the journalist in me and I believe that Ms Skille gave a very balanced portrait of Sigrid Undset including the highs and lows and the flattering and not so flattering details. We tend to glamorize the idea of the lives we think authors and creative people live. This book shows how many people it took to support Sigrid in her home life with a special needs child and in fact raising 3 children pretty much on her own … the details in the book about cherished housekeepers and workers were some of my favorite parts!!!! I’m rusty in doing book videos – I just want to say that this is such an inspiring book I had…
