On the one hand, it helped me understand why I struggle so much in certain areas like consistently keeping my home tidy and on the other hand, it explains why I didn’t really know what to do with my money after I got out of debt but ultimately why I was successful later on. Without giving up too much of the book, his premise is that goal setting is not enough, you have to build systems or habits that you can follow every day that will help build the very identity you want to have. He states, “If you want better results, then forget about setting goals. Focus on your systems instead.”
